From Michelle ~ The Little Sister: Growing up with a big sister 7 yrs older meant I always had
a great role model to look up to. It
seems like it was just yesterday that I was fascinated just watching Kathy do
her hair and makeup to get ready to go out clubbing. I was only in 7th grade when I would
get up early for school to do my 3 step skin care routine and apply a full face
of makeup. Why so young you ask? Kathy had started her own business of selling
Mary Kay Cosmetics and yours truly was always her test dummy. This only fed my addiction of the art of
beauty.
Being inspired by a mother who would never let any of us
leave the house without our lipstick, and having a fabulous big sister that
trained me in at such a young age, led
me to beauty school right after high school.
I attended Horst Education Center which is now known as the Aveda
Institute where I licensed in Cosmetology. After attaining my license I would go on to meet
so many great people that would inspire me on my journey.
I really was amazed by the industry and all aspects of it! My experience over the years has covered it
all from hair dresser, manicurist to a free-lance makeup artist for MAC &
Bobby Brown Cosmetics, returning back to where it all started working as an
educator at the Aveda Institute, where I was able to master my skills.
While I was working in the cosmetology field, Kathy was off
doing her own thing of working her way up the corporate ladder to senior under-writer at Blue Cross
Blue Shield. Kathy started out as a temp
and 20 yrs later was still with the company, all while building her own online
business of handbags and accessories, also being a distributor for Senegence
Cosmetics. Kathy’s 7 yrs experience with
Senegence has allowed her to renew her love of cosmetics and skin care, while getting a chance to work on one with the customer to fulfill their needs.
I have always loved being able to help people find their
beauty, learning and challenging myself in new and unique ways. After being an educator I found myself
looking for the next challenge. I asked
myself how I could utilize all of this experience and education that I had
after 20 yrs in the industry, and also still be able to educate others and stay
true to my #1 passion of makeup and beautiful skin. This is when I had my a-ha moment of opening
a cosmetics boutique…and why wouldn’t I want the person that created
this passion of mine and keeps me inspired to this day to be my business
